Welcome back Wildcats!
My name is Ashlyn Fuhrmann, and I am ecstatic to be back as editor-in-chief for the second year in a row as we go into another exciting year of publication.
Last year we had the amazing opportunity to start this paper from the ground up, writing many articles about topics such as ranking the food in the cafeteria, violence against teenage girls, meeting our paper mascot Wendy Wildcat, football plays, and monumental students walking our halls. We can’t wait to see what this next year entails!
It is important to me that every student voice is heard here at the Paw Print. We can’t wait to bring more familiar stories of fun, as well as some new stories to be found in our Fiction section, along with the impactful events and hard-hitting questions about life here at Harrison. Journalism gives every student an opportunity to be in the loop, express themselves, and maybe even discover what they love.
Our paper firmly believes that its purpose here is to highlight student voices in our community. Oftentimes, students feel like they just have to listen to others whether it be teachers, parents, bosses, or other adults, but this paper gives them the chance to use the powerful voice they have. Students must be given a place to speak their mind, and this is just the place. We hope that you will find something you enjoy in an article whether it be a hobby, an issue, or a favorite album.
I can’t wait to see our staff and my own writing improve throughout this year, especially as a now established paper. It’s inspiring to think about the new generations of writers in the coming years, hoping to leave a great legacy for them to look back on.
Our community benefits from your voice. We are excited to continue another great year of publication here at The Paw Print, and we are eagerly anticipating the stories that come out of it.
