Harrison wrestlers brought their A-game to state this year, showing off both determination and talent. Both the girls’ and boys’ team had several athletes place or come close to placing. Chris Barid, the girls’ wrestling coach said, “Haylynn Littleton placed 8th, Leah Willen placed 4th, and Rylee Dearwester placed 3rd.” The girls’ team demonstrated their desire to claim a title, ultimately finishing 7th overall. The boys team pushed themselves to their full potential. Eric Myer, one of the boys’ wrestling coaches shared, “Owen Dennis placed 8th at 150 pounds, pulling a massive upset over the number 8 ranked wrestler in the state from Massillon Perry to place.” Several other boy wrestlers came close to placing but fell just short in “blood round,” where wrestler was only one win away from making the top 8. The wrestlers that missed placing were Connor Niehaus, Gavin Boner, Wyatt Brock, and Grant Dallio.” In the end the boys’ team finished 23 in the division. Overall, both teams showed dedication and perseverance, constantly pushing themselves to achieve excellence from the beginning to end.
