Having the right items in your bookbag can make high schoolers’ lives easier. Typically, students should have a folder for every class, a couple of notebooks, and plenty of pens and pencils. A calculator is a must for most math and science classes. While some students may need special items for certain courses, most students carry the same items. However, as the school year goes on, students get lazy about staying organized. Students’ papers end up in the wrong folder and unknown items end up in their bookbag.
Students at Harrison High School often have items in their bookbag that go beyond the typical school supplies. Valeria Garcia-Alvaraz, a senior at Harrison keeps her iPad in her bag which is not commonly seen among other students. Junior Olivia Long shows her creativity by making a Hot Wheel car out of tape and an eraser. Senior Baylee Collinsworth has a dog bone in the very bottom of her bag, while junior Sophia Ravenscraft keeps a travel-size container of floss in the front pocket of her bookbag. Taylor Branscome, a senior, keeps a sand bucket in her bookbag, which is a reminder from her little cousin. Senior, Samantha Hamman carries around a small flashlight for any emergency.
So whatever the future has in store for you, we bet you have something interesting in your backpack that could help you succeed.
