Keeping track of time can really improve your study sessions.
School’s ending soon, and many people are stressed about all the upcoming tests and the scores of the ones they’ve already completed. Because of all these tests, students are forgetting about homework/assignments for their classes. Make sure to have an equal balance between spending time on studying and doing homework!
Keeping focus during lectures in class is a lot easier said than done. It’s commonly known that notes are a good way to enhance the amount of knowledge you retain from listening in class. An article by Baldwin Center of Learning and Teaching says that taking notes by hand is better than typing them. It is easier to enhance the notes you take by adding small touches or drawings like graphs and color by taking them on paper rather than the computer.
Often, the reason behind the problem of students having trouble focusing is the noise level in the area they study in. An article by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill reads that silence isn’t always the best option for some when trying to focus on studying. It’s important to know the noise level that helps you to study best with minimal distractions. While complete silence may work for some, it doesn’t always work for all. If you notice that a quiet environment causes you to be more focused on everything but the studying you’re supposed to be doing, try popping in some headphones and playing your favorite playlist!
It’s important that students ensure they’re utilizing their time to the max. Instead of pushing off studying for activities that could be done on your own time, try to do little bits of studying at a time. Many people use time timers to help them suffice to this. Finding something to study for each class each day is a way to balance out time for schoolwork and hobbies, as long as you’re studying little bits at a time.
To sum things up, studying can be hard, tiring, boring, or all of the above. Keeping focus is crucial to retain any information you do study. Adjusting the amount of sound you hear, making sure you use time wisely, and keeping focus in class to write notes are all easy things to make your time studying better.
