What’s the hottest take you’ve ever seen? Because whatever it is, the Paw Print staff has some hotter takes.
Music is something everyone loves. If you don’t, are you even human? But we have some interesting takes about music. One staffer said that Aerosmith is a terrible band, and I can’t help but agree. I’d even add that “Dream On” is a terrible song. Opinions about specific artists were quite common, with one staffer saying that Chappelle Roan is a terrible artist and one saying “Taylor Swift… just no.” Hopefully the Swifties don’t hear that. My personal take is that older country music (songs like “El Paso” and “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain”) are much better than pop music will ever be.
Movies and TV shows are one of the best ways to bring out some very hot takes. After all, they’re completely subjective. My personal hot take is that “Breaking Bad”, while still good, should not be in the discussion for the greatest show ever. That easily goes to “The Sopranos” with “Better Call Saul” in second place. Another hot take I’d add is that “The Truman Show” and “Avatar” are the most overrated movies ever made. One Paw Print writer believes that Ryan Reynolds is a bad actor. Another believes that Rachel Zegler didn’t deserve any hate for the recent remake of “Snow White” and that all blame should be on the directors (they’re absolutely right, too!). Perhaps the hottest movie and TV show take a staffer had is that Barbie is overrated. The box office certainly disagrees!
But what about school? We’re all forced to be here every day from 8:05 to 2:55, so we have quite a few interesting hot takes. From the time the first bell rings to start the day and to the second the last bell rings, students aren’t allowed on their phones (even though you probably are). Multiple Paw Print writers have said that students should be allowed on their phones during the day. ‘Most adults are so we should be able to as well’, one staffer said. On the opposite side, one staff writer said that people are on their phones quite a lot, perhaps too much. Another hot take shared amongst the staff was that students should be able to order food to school. It might pose a safety concern, but anything for a Big Mac.
Sports fans might be the only ones crazier than Taylor Swift fans, so naturally the staffers had some pretty interesting takes. One writer said that basketball is the only sport worth watching at all. Which is the exact opposite from my take, which is that basketball is the most boring sport out there. Even LeBron can’t make it exciting (he’s still the GOAT). On the same note, one staffer said that soccer is extremely boring to watch. The rest of the world would disagree there. One writer said that professional athletes get paid WAY too much. And another said that hockey is leagues better than football. Which sounds completely un-American and outright Canadian.
We need food to sustain ourselves, but not everyone has the same taste. Personally, I think that Domino’s pizza is the worst pizza place and a good enough reason for Italy to close their borders. One staffer said that Skyline chili is terrible, with their reason being that the texture is too grainy. Hopefully they plan on leaving Harrison and the Cincinnati area soon. One Paw Print writer believes that strawberries are disgusting with another claiming olives are disgusting as well. “Meatloaf is disgusting” is a hot take one writer had, and before Mr. Karn marches down to the Journalism room, we are all very strong anti-communists here.
There are other kinds of hot takes out there too, so the staff shared their miscellaneous opinions too. One student said that life would be far better if TikTok stayed banned, something I’m sure many people disagree with. Another said that more guys should have longer hair, which I absolutely agree with. Personally, I believe that most movies are better than their book counterparts. “The Godfather”, “Forrest Gump”, “The Shawshank Redemption”, “Jaws”, and “Stand by Me” are all far better than the book, and I guarantee most of you weren’t aware at least one of those movies was a book. One writer believes that purple is the best popsicle flavor by far and that circles should be reserved for cymbals.
You’ve seen our hot takes, but what are yours? Do you agree with ours? Feel free to swing by room 106 to argue with us if you don’t. Unless you’re Mr. Karn arguing about meatloaf, of course.
