“Are you not entertained?!”
Hello Wildcats! This is your new section editor, Henry Walker, and this year marks the launch of our all-new Entertainment section! Last year, we improved many of the features in our newspaper regarding your personal entertainment and we wish to continue that growth this year. We would love to continue what our Fiction section accomplished last year with student written short stories, poems, and other works of fiction. One of our first entries to this is Naomi Bucher’s “Ballad of a Nihilist” available to read on our site right now! We are very excited to continue this special part of our website and can’t wait to see how it grows throughout the year.
Entertainment will also now include our pop culture reviews. Previously, these were majorly overcrowding our opinion section, so this will free up that part of our paper for more student focused opinion articles. We have lots of plans for this side of Entertainment, including reviews for Superman and a new Ethel Cain album. Beyond that, we’ll guide you through the best horror movies to watch this Halloween season, quiz you on which Harrison teacher you are most similar to, and provide you with plenty more crazy columns from our beloved Wendy Wildcat!
Finally, if you were worried that contests were going away, fear not! We received great feedback from our contests last year, and we would love to continue this trend again. So far, we are planning to hold both our costume and poetry contests, with plenty of room for expansion into other contests later in the year, so stay tuned for more information!
We are incredibly excited to share this new section with you, and I hope it will successfully grow our newspaper. This is meant to be an outlet for you, our viewers, so if there is a particular issue you want us to cover regarding pop culture, movies, contest ideas, or just entertainment ideas in general, feel free to shoot me a quick message on Teams. We want this section to reflect what you are interested in and give you a place to chill out when the stress of school, homework, and extracurriculars become too intense. I can’t wait to grow as a writer through this new section, and I hope you all enjoy what we produce this year!
