Halloween is a very popular time of year. Fall has just started; the weather is perfect. Not too cold or hot. It’s finally time for scary movies, Haunted houses, fall decorations, and Pumpkin spice lattes, and most important Halloween! Many people celebrate Halloween in their own ways. Some like to just stay in for Halloween; others like to go out with friends and dress up in fun and cute outfits and either go to a Halloween party or go trick or treating.
To learn more about what students plan on doing on Halloween to celebrate, I talked to a few Harrisons high school freshmen. The first student I interviewed said “I’m going to a party with my friends and dressing up as a cat,” then the second student said, “I’m going trick- or- treating with my family.” These responses show that there is more than just one way to celebrate Halloween.
I also made a poll asking students what they enjoy doing most on Halloween. The first question I asked was “How old is too old to trick- or- treat?” Most people said after high school graduation, but some said you’re never too old to trick- or – treat for some free candy! The second question that I asked was “what the best thing is to do on Halloween?” The most common answer was “Go to a Halloween party.” The older that students get they tend to grow out of trick- or- treating and choose to go to a Halloween party with their friends.
When I asked what their plans were this year on Halloween, many people said that they are going to go trick- or- treating with friends, while others planned to go to a football game, or go trick- or-canning for DECA.
Overall, everyone celebrates Halloween differently, but that’s what makes Halloween such a fun holiday. Whether you’re going out, staying in, or hanging out with friends, Halloween is all about having fun with the people that make you the happiest.
