Are you looking for something to do in the winter months? How about joining an upcoming winter sport? Basketball, swimming, wrestling, and bowling are just some of the wintertime sports Harrison High School has to offer.
During the cold winter days, it is important to not only stay academically active but physically active as well, and participating in a sport is the perfect way to keep your bones, muscles, and brain strong. Our sports teams provide a good way to socialize, build strength, endurance, and help cure boredom. Our district goal is for 100% of students to be involved in an extracurricular activity, so get out of your comfort zone and try something new.
One of our award winning winter sports is girls wrestling. These athletes have helped build and advocate for this exceptional sports team, a team that has unprecedented back to back state championships, as well as several wrestlers who made it to state and even won their division.
But this isn’t the only good thing happening in winter sports. Serinty Kinsel, a freshman who has been wrestling for three years, said that the wrestling coaches have, “helped me grow not just as a wrestler, but as a person.” Other athletes echoed this idea, that being in a sport isn’t just about the games or practices, it’s about the community that builds with the sport.
If you want to join a winter sport, have any questions, or need more information, contact Mark Meibers, Barry Niemeyer, or Chris Baird. So what are you waiting for? Join now and unleash your potential!
