Do you love art? You’re in luck. Harrison High School offers many art electives and clubs for students interested in art. In addition to Introduction to Art (Art 1), students can take Art 2, Drawing and Painting, Ceramics 1 and 2, 3-D art, and Photography 1 and 2.
There are also after school ways for artists to get involved. Our art clubs are Clay Club and Visual Art Club. The clubs meet once a month- for example this month is a clay project that Mrs. Swartz is leading. Ms. Keller will do a photo project in December. The clubs also volunteer doing face painting and pictures with Santa at the elementary school.
One of the Harrison graduation requirements is a fine arts credit, and all of these classes fulfill that. Lots of people don’t just take the one class to get their credit, though, because these classes are fun and interactive.
Art doesn’t end in high school–art is everywhere. The poster hanging in your bedroom? Art. The amazing vacation picture you take of your family? Art. The flowers you see in a vase? Art. Even the way you decorate your desk can be art. These high school classes and electives can help you learn more about art and be more ready to find art in your everyday life.
No matter how you engage with art, Ms. Keller wants you to remember to “focus on the GOOD!”
