As the 23-24 school year starts up, one thing has changed: the school has a new policy on vaping.
The old policy was that if you were caught vaping at school, you would get a three day suspension with a threat of expulsion. The new policy states that if you are caught vaping at school, you get a three day in-school suspension. During this time, students have to complete some lessons on vaping.
This new policy was put in place to limit the amount of time kids are out of school while still treating vaping seriously. Since the law prohibits minors from smoking or vaping, the school has to take steps to make sure the law is being followed at school.
This only applies to nicotine vapes, not THC or any other drug. Those will still get the old consequences of an out of school suspension and possible expulsion.
