No matter what school you go to, there will always be teachers that leave more of a significant mark on you as a student, whether it’s for personal reasons, or they’re just a great person in general. For me, and many other students, English teacher Mrs. Stacey Jones is that teacher. Though she’s only been here for about a year and a half, Mrs. Jones teaches multiple different classes including Yearbook, Advanced English, and ACT prep. Her work ethic is remarkable, and her teaching style is even better. She takes the time to teach her students the skill lessons they need in a way that is easier for them to personally understand, which make students feel more comfortable in their environment.
Adding on to the comforting aspect, her classroom is just as aesthetically pleasing as her personality. Her couch, for example, is a hotspot for students who just need to settle down and calm their nerves while doing work. Another place that students can relax in is her comfy chair, which has been recently replaced with a new one that finally doesn’t squeak with every little move you make (WOO HOO!!). Another one of the many amazing things in her room is the ambient lighting, rather than the overhead lights, which benefits students by decreasing the likeliness of getting headaches or losing focus.
Mrs. Jones is also the type of teacher to leave a major influence on you. Her thoughtfulness with every word that comes out of her mouth proves just how much she cares for her students. She will genuinely listen to what you have to say and immediately jump in to take action and help in any way she can.
While Mrs. Jones hasn’t been here long as a teacher, she is a Harrison alumni. Jones said coming back to her roots made her “feel old, but it made [her] remember her how much [she] loves being a Wildcat.” Her impact on Harrison High and our fellow wildcats is fierce. She goes above and beyond to do her job and teach her students, as well as playing a major role in their lives. She always has a smile on her face and is never hesitant to wave when she sees you roaming the halls. Overall, I know everyone who has had her will be excited to see her grow and succeed as a teacher in future years to come.
