Harrison football won the 2023 SWOC championship for the third time recently by defeating Northwest High School with a score of 55-0. The program has a history of dominance: they also won in 2018 and 2019.
Harrison’s athletes excelled on the field. #3 Cole Koops scored 3 rushing touchdowns, while #1 Luke Rogers secured 2 receiving touchdowns. The defense performed exceptionally, conceding no points and featuring an exciting interception by #16 Wyatt Brock.
Following their victory against Northwest, Harrison progressed to the OHSAA tournament. Their initial match against Sidney concluded with a 51-6 win for Harrison, advancing them into the playoff’s 2nd round, where they faced off against Northmont High School football team who has a current record of 6-5 this season. Harrison emerged victorious with a 20-17 win, sealed by #1 Luke Rogers’ game-winning touchdown, leading the team into the 3rd round.
In the 3rd round of playoffs, Harrison squared off against Anderson High School. This marked the 3rd time in Harrison’s history that they had progressed this far in playoffs, previously making it this far in 1988 and 2019. Unfortunately, they lost 36-50, resulting in their elimination from the playoffs.
2023 proved to be an amazing year for Harrison football, etching its place in our school’s history by making this the 3rd time our football team made it this far into the OHSAA playoffs.
