In the last month, the weather in Ohio and across the U.S. was honestly all over the place. One day it felt like winter, and the next day it felt like summer. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures in Ohio ranged from the 20’s, all the way up to the 80’s during March.
An important thing people noticed was how warm it was overall. Experts said temperatures were about “7–9 degrees above normal” Report March2026.pdf for the month. That means it was warmer than it usually is in March, which is strange since March is typically still on the colder side.
At the same time, the weather kept changing a lot. Early in the month it was cold, but then it suddenly got really warm. One report said temperatures jumped to the mid-70s and even broke records. Then later in the month, it dropped back down again, showing how unpredictable it was.
There were also a lot of storms. In fact, the Ohio Valley had an “active weather pattern” According to a report by Weather.gov with more rain than normal. Some parts of the U.S. even had severe storms with strong winds and possible tornadoes.
Not only that, but March across the country was one of the warmest ever. An article in the New York Post said it was the “warmest March on record,” not just here in Ohio, but all over the country. Because of this, spring started early and plants began growing sooner than usual. When a cold freeze hit after this warm spell, many plants were in danger.
Overall, last month’s weather was really inconsistent and kind of confusing. It went from cold to hot, dry to stormy, all in just a few weeks. This shows how unpredictable weather can be, and some experts think climate change might be part of the reason why things are getting more extreme.
