Turn back, drivers! It looks like the roads are closed.
Around Harrison, there will be updates coming to two roads, which are Carolina Trace and Dry Fork Road. Carolina Trace will have a box culvert installation project, aimed to improve draining and roadway stability in the area. According to the official Harrison website, Carolina’s closure will take place in two phases. “The first closure will occur during Spring Break, from March 30 through April 3. The road will reopen following that week. The second closure will begin after school is out for summer, starting May 26 and continuing through July 11. “This is so that the closure will not disrupt families or school traffic.”
Here are the Carolina Trace Detour Routes – Carolina Trace Rd, then New Haven Rd, Harrison Rd, N. Hill St, Madison St, New Biddinger St, and finally back on Carolina Trace Rd. Carolina trace Rd. will be closed between Walking Fern Drive and New Haven Road from March 15th to May 16th, 2026.
In addition, the Dry Fork Bridge is getting a major makeover! It will now be widened over I-74 to add turn lanes at the I-74-on-ramps, a sidewalk along the bridge, widening the westbound I-74 off-ramp and rebuilding the traffic signals. The westbound I-74 exit, and entrance ramps will be closed for up to 45 days, and after the exit and ramps open back up, the I-74 eastbound exit off and on ramps will be closed for 45 days. However, the construction has been delayed. According to the Ohio Department of Transportation’s update bulletin, “the beam delivery timing did not align with the original project schedule due to protection runs by the manufacturer.” It was decided to begin the redesign of the piers for the contractors to continue working while the beams are being fabricated and delivered. Doing this will reduce the number of days that Dry Fork Bridge is closed, which went from 180 days to 150 days.

One of the alternative routes for drivers is taking West Rd. using the roundabout and taking a drive past Great Parks. After all, there’s nothing like a scenic drive past or through the park! Another route that can be taken is the intersection of West Road and Harrison Avenue (intersection near Kroger’s and the future site of Target). Even though the intersection will be busy, be glad there’s some detours.
