You’re walking through the Cynical Carnival and as you look closer at the actors, you realize they look familiar. You go to school with these people! Then questions start to go through your head… How did they set this up? How did they get all these actors? What is it like on the other side of haunted houses?
Every year for the past 10 years, the Harrison Drama Club has done a haunted house fundraiser to raise money for the drama department. This money is used to buy costumes, set pieces, paint, and almost anything you would see on stage in drama productions.
Drama Club’s annual haunted house is organized by the drama executive department, which this year, consists of Madison Jacob, Ethan Roush, Parker Lawhorn, and Chloe Doherty. This year, there was also a “shadow” exec team, which people are selected to observe what the current exec team does as their role as president, etc. All these people arrive a few hours early to the haunted house location to help build the haunted house. Many of the items throughout the haunted house are directly from the drama prop closet or donated by benefactors.
Many different roles were needed such as cannibal clowns, acrobats, damsels, and some featured roles such as the fortune teller and the ring master. The actors you see are members of the drama club, A Capella, and choir, also known as the CAT boosters. There is no need to audition, just be a member of the CAT boosters and sign up if you’re interested!
