| Stuck at Kroger’s and don’t have a ride back home? Download Uber, it’s an app many people use to get from place to place if they don’t have a ride or car.
Uber is an app that many people use to get from place to place. However, there are some people who don’t use it because they don’t think it’s safe. Uber has lots of safety measures in place, including in-depth background checks on everyone who wants to be an Uber driver, and careful tracking of every ride. Uber is proud of their safety record, and shares this with the public. They argue that their platform was built with safety in mind, saying that “through incident prevention tools, insurance coverage, and technology that keeps you connected, we’re dedicated to helping you move safely and focus on what matters most.” Recently, they’ve upped their safety game even more with the introduction of Uber teen. This separate app works similarly to Uber, but it’s just controlled by the teen parent. Uber Teen is very useful because maybe the teen has somewhere to go but their parent isn’t able to take them, and they aren’t able to find a ride, but obviously the parent wouldn’t want to get them their own Uber because the parent won’t be able to see where they are. That’s why we have Uber Teen the parent and the teen can share accounts so when the teen gets a uber, the parent is able to see where the teen is at, and the location they are going to, and the parent can also see who their driver is, and the license placed of the car just in case of a emergency. In addition, Uber Teen requires a code from the driver and the teen to start the Uber ride. It lets the Uber driver and the teen know they are getting in the right car and getting the right person. Uber Teen is very useful to many parents and teenagers. When the parents download Uber Teen, they set up the account, and they also approve of where their children are going. Uber teen also helps the parents trust because it helps solve the “parent taxi” problem, teens can get to school, sports, jobs, and activities even if parents are busy, and the parent is still for sure their child will arrive there safely. There are communication and safety checks so the driver knows it’s a teen and must meet higher safety requirements and the Parents automatically get messages when the trip starts and ends. Story continues below advertisement Even though Harrison is a small town you can still get an Uber. The past couple I’ve been looking at Uber at different times of the day the wait time has been 10-15 minutes each time. This means you don’t have to worry about having a ride to places such as the airport, school, or even sports. If I needed a ride to Kroger from the High School, it would be around 8 dollars and more if you choose a fancy Uber. A ride to the airport would cost you around 50 dollars. Since parking is almost 10 dollars a day, an Uber would only make sense for longer trips. Freshman Madison Meibers uses Uber Teen. She used a Uber from Harrison all the way to Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati Ohio. Her pickup from Harrison was a 14–15-minute wait. Madison’s cousin had also got a uber to the concert, but they live in 2 different places, so they took different Ubers, her cousin had normal uber, so her wait was 17mins-25 mins wait but it was much cheaper than Madison that had UberX. It cost $47.16 but her wait was only 14-16 mins. Madison’s Uber felt really safe and the Uber driver made sure she was comfortable and the Uber also asked if she wanted music? Madison also got asked if she was hot or cold so they could either turn the air on for her or the heat on for her. So, next time you need a ride, talk to your parents, and consider signing up for Uber Teen. |
