With strong goals for the upcoming months, the Cross Country team is overcoming the heat as they prepare together for their current season. Junior runner Matthew Rudolph has set high goals for the team: “My goal is to get the team to regionals by the time I graduate, as well as win SWOC this year.” On September 1st, the cross country team had a great run with 3 boys from the cross country team placing in the top 20 at their meet at Miami University. James Kirby placed 10th, Mason Barnes placed 18th, Rory Summer placed 19th, and Lana Connelly placed 4th.
On an average practice day, the team warms up before running around Harrison, such as at the park or near the school. Running in the park is “a great way to connect with nature, we run in the woods and you go at your own pace.” Logan Dreyer, a senior, described. Running isn’t the only thing that this sport is about, it’s about making connections with your peers and growing as a team. “I love cross country because the people that I run with are so much fun to hang out with!” Jacob Rudolph, a freshman, exclaimed. The school’s goal is to get 100% student involvement, and if you’re looking for a way to get involved and you love running, cross-country could be the sport for you!
