![]() During his freshman and sophomore years you could tell that Preston Flick was ready for varsity: he was constantly running kids over or beating them in a foot race. He was doing it all! His freshman year he focused on watching varsity film to see how they run the ball so he can perfect his craft and fully pursue his running back position. Sophomore year he didn’t get as many reps as he would like to because there was a senior in his spot. But every time he went in it made the crowd question how he wasn’t the star running back.Ā ![]() Preston continued improving during the next year. Junior season he was going crazy; he had 8 touchdowns in the first 5 games. He was feeling pretty good about week 6 playing Mt. Healthy he had a great week of practice still giving 110% effort even if the whole team was giving half. He is the kind of player that brings the whole team up by pushing them all to be great through his performance. ![]() During the week 6 game, he had a few good rushes until he was tackled out of bounds. After that, he didn’t touch the field for another 8 months. His left leg got stuck and twisted and next thing we knew his ACL was gone. To this day Coach Rehage says āI will never forget the terrible look on his face. It felt like a nightmare that came trueā. About a week after it all happened, Preston went to get his surgery. After he got his surgery, the team all went over with gift baskets, and no matter how much he smiled, all of his team mates could see the pain he was going through. After surgery every slight move was aching pain even with nerve blockers. After he sat on the couch for a few weeks the physical therapy began. They didn’t take it easy on him even with his facial expressions. But Preston was going to do anything he could to come back and play with us. After a whole off season of straight grinding to get back on the field, he was cleared to come back and play. Story continues below advertisement For the first couple weeks he was back from the injury you could tell he was a little skeptical about it all but once he got comfortable it felt like he never left. He was a senior team captain and was still giving 110% day in and day out. Week 1 came around, and it was time. Preston was running routes, carrying the rock, and he was even getting the syrup out for some of his pancakes as well. After watching the film, we could see his spark come back and he realized all the hard work finally paid off. ![]() He ended up playing a 15-week season including scrimmages and some teams would try and twist his knee because they knew if he went down it’s going to make their jobs easier but no matter how many times someone did something dirty, he jumped back up and got after it. He even ended up getting a tennis ball sized sack of fluid on his knee and had to get it drained after the season. Preston Flick is a tough hard working Football player and it’s easy to see he gives everything for his football team. |
