We all love Legos, right? But as you’re about to find out, some of us love them more than others. Our very own Brian Egan, the Harrison Band director, is a certified Lego Legend.
In case you don’t know about Legos, they are a modular, brick building system that allows for creativity at all levels of skill and age (except for 100-year-olds, as they all have an age limit ending at 99).
Brian Egan teaches music by day, but when he gets home, his creativity shines through in a different way. Mr. Egan has well over 100,000 Lego parts, along with around 300 Lego sets/builds in his basement alone. There he and his son, Brody, bond together building various Lego masterpieces; one such build was their Errant Venture, which was record breaking!
The Errant Venture is 10 feet long, made with 40,000 Lego bricks and weighs at least 70 pounds; it is the largest Errant Venture built. They submitted this red behemoth to Beyond the Bricks for being the largest and received an interview; the Errant Venture was being featured on display at HHH Brick Depot. The Brick Depot, however, recently closed and such the Errant Venture was bought and moved to a private collection last year. Check out the Beyond the Bricks YouTube Video about the Errant Venture for even more details and an interview.
Mr. Egan and his son love building with those colorful bricks and so do many others. He encourages building with Legos to express creativity and suggests others should join the hobby.
