What is the value of a live action remake? Who is clamoring to see the same movie again? Turns out, lots of us. While many complain about the remakes, the box office receipts mean that Disney will keep making them for years to come.
For almost one hundred years, Disney has been one of the most magical and one of the biggest entertainment companions in the world. Now, Disney movies are broad and can be any genre, but what they are most famous for are their cartoons. Throughout the years, these companies have come together and have made so many beloved cartoons for kids.
Disney has made several live action remakes over the years based on original cartoons. The first ever live action remake was The Jungle Book originally made in 1967 and was later remade in live action in 1994. The most recent live action remake was the high grossing Lilo and Stitch and soon enough, a live action Moana will be released.
Disney live action remakes bring up a good argument with which is better between it and its original. The estimate of which is better is hard to determine for everyone has their own perspectives and opinions. Some might agree that there is nothing like the originals of anything, but others can agree that some of the live action remakes are either worse or as good as the original film. Percentage wise it is not as hard to estimate between which is better ranked by people and which is not the best ranked by people, but in total, “Live-action Disney remakes are some of the most successful yet disliked movies from the past decade.” Even though some of them suck, they have made Disney a lot of money.
Live action remakes aren’t really something that most people enjoy. However, there are some who do enjoy live action remakes, and they would even argue that live action movies have their own magic, separate from the animated films.
Jada Wong says, “The original Disney movies are better than the live actions,” because she thinks “The remakes change the original story of the movie,” and even though she thinks this about remakes, she does like the remakes for their looks because “they make the movie look more cool.” However, even though she believes the live actions look better, she still prefers the storylines from the originals. While it’s fair to hate live action remakes, there are others who like remakes, some even like them over the originals. James Bergman says, “The live action remakes are better than the originals,” because he thinks “There’s more effort, show of emotions, and improvements in the live actions from the original story(s).” James also thinks that Disney should continue remakes of originals because “It gives more generics to the remake because the cartoons are for kids while the live action gives realistic perspective of the story.” However, if there was one thing he could change, he would “put more laughs in the live actions.”
So, when it comes down to Disney remakes and their original stories, they aren’t everyone’s cup of tea. However, others do actually like them, although it creates an argument between which is better. People have their own opinions on why which one is better. Which do you prefer?
